This is Derek's contribution in the book Overcoming Violence in Aotearoa New Zealand published in 2002 by Philip Garside Publishing Ltd. In this article, Derek advocates a fundamentally different kind of world order and documents the hurdles to be overcome.

The text of a speech given by Derek that summarises his views on current world peace and environment dilemmas.
Currently,
Derek is working on a new book, The Golden Mile, (working title)
which is a photographic record, with accompanying
text, of 25 years of recent changes to buildings along Wellington's Willis
St and Lambton Quay.
